Myths and fears about hypnosis are so common it's a wonder anyone decides to undergo hypnosis. It's interesting to think that many of the reasons someone would need hypnosis is due to "hypnotic tactics" used on them without their awareness in the earlier stages of their lives. Although having a marked impact on someones beliefs about themselves and the world around them is not commonly referred to as hypnosis, I believe it qualifies in some way.
